With a flick of the switch, the Mayor’s Annual Holiday Tree Lighting Ceremony will take place Friday at Pasadena City Hall, 100 N. Garfield Ave.

The city is inviting family and friends to the free celebration. It will feature local singers and dancers, crafts for kids provided by Armory Center for the Arts, light refreshments, and a special appearance by, that’s right, Santa Claus.

Pasadena Mayor Victor Gordo will light the city’s official tree at 6 p.m., so organizers recommend you come early for parking and a prime viewing spot at City Hall.

They’ve also asked that if you have the means, Pasadena firefighters will be at the tree lighting ceremony collecting donations of new, unwrapped toys, sports equipment and gift cards for the annual Spark of Love Toy Drive.
