PENNSYLVANIA, USA — The Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program application for the 2025-2026 season opens on Wednesday.
The program usually opens in November but was delayed due to the federal government shutdown.
Applications can be submitted from December 3 through April 10.
LIHEAP is a federally funded program through the Department of Human Services that helps qualified households pay their heating bills by sending payments directly to their utility company or fuel provider.
Assistance does not need to be paid back and is available in the form of cash or crisis grants. LIHEAP cash grants range from a minimum of $200 to a maximum of $1,000, while crisis grants range from $25 to $1,000.
Individuals and households can receive one cash grant per LIHEAP season.
