LAREDO, Tex. (KGNS) - The Laredo City Council has elected District 1 representative Gilbert Gonzalez to serve as mayor pro tempore for 2026.

The appointment followed a recommendation from Mayor Victor Treviño.

Gonzalez released a statement saying his commitment remains with the people of Laredo and with creating opportunities to help every neighborhood thrive.
