LUFKIN, Texas (KTRE) - The Petty’s Motor Hotel in Lufkin has since reopened following a November inspection that found the hotel was no longer crawling with bed bugs and rodents.
The hotel originally closed its doors on Oct. 16 after the City of Lufkin conducted an inspection that found “major violations and unsafe conditions,” with “severe infestations of bed bugs, roaches, gnats and rodents in several rooms.”
According to the updated inspection completed on Nov. 12 by the Angelina County and Cities Health District Environmental Division (ACCHD), overall the rooms “appear improved” and “no evidence of bed bugs was observed” when a mattress was inspected.
