The Campbell County woman whose house caught fire early Sunday morning is now being treated for burns in Colorado, and a GoFundMe has been created for her.
Tammy Jo Schafer suffered burns on 21% of her body after her house on Ron Don Road caught fire. An online fundraiser at gofundme.com/f/support-tammy-jos-recovery-and-rebuilding has brought in more than $8,000 already.
Sunday night, Schafer was on a ventilator, and it was estimated that 10% of her body has burns. That percentage was updated to 21% Monday. The majority of burns are to her head, arms and chest.
Monday, she was weaned off of the ventilator and was able to speak with friends and family. According to Cathy Cole, who created the GoFundMe, Schafer has no memory of what happened.
