VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. — The City of Virginia Beach is teaming up with local organizations to make sure people who are experiencing homelessness have a warm place to sleep during the cold winter months.
For the next 16 weeks, single adults can check in each day at overnight shelters around the city and get two free meals and a place to sleep. While transportation is not provided to the check-in sites, you will get a ride to the shelter itself, where you can bring two bags.
Dallas Stamper, the CEO of PiN Ministry, said shelters like this during the winter can save lives.
“Think about last year with the snow,” Stamper said. “We had two churches that we had to open to get everyone out of the weather.”
Spots at the shelters are not guaranteed as space is limited. More information is availab
