SACRAMENTO, Calif. —
It looks a lot like Santa’s workshop inside a massive warehouse in downtown Sacramento, where Habitat for Humanity is celebrating Giving Tuesday with a special holiday project for local families.
Nearly 100 volunteers are spending the day designing and building custom playhouses for children in the community. Each one is crafted with bright colors, fun themes and thoughtful details chosen by the kids themselves.
Kimberly Coley with Habitat for Humanity said the effort is all about lifting spirits and empowering children whose families have already moved into homes built with the help of Habitat volunteers.
“These playhouses may be small, but the impact is enormous,” Coley said. “For the children receiving them, they become their very first sense of homeownership. I
