CLEVELAND, Ohio - WiFi will be no more on RTA’s buses, trains and trolleys, starting later this month.
The Greater Cleveland Regional Transit Authority announced Tuesday it would discontinue the free service on Dec. 19 as part of cost-cutting to deal with a budget crunch.
The WiFi service cost about $250,000 a year, a spokesperson said.
WiFi, however, will still be offered at the Stephanie Tubbs Transit Center and five stations - Tower City, Cedar University, East 55th Street, East 79th Street and Louis Stokes/Windermere.
RTA first introduced the WiFi service in 2019 .
Transit agency trustees later this month are expected to approve a budget for 2026.
