An urgent rescue mission has been launched as authorities race against time to find a student from Bristol who went missing after hiking alone in the Romanian mountains.
An alert was issued on November 28 after University of Bristol student George Smyth, 18, of Newport, Shropshire, made a desperate call for help, telling officials that he was exhausted and suffering from hypothermia.
Rescue teams suspect he reached the Tiganesti valley, over 6,562 feet above sea level, where he placed the emergency call.
The search operation has included a Black Hawk helicopter, a drone equipped with a thermal imaging camera and teams with sniffer dogs, according to the outlet.
