Heathrow faced anger from passengers and taxi drivers when it said its drop-off fees will go up from £6 to £7 in the New Year.
London ’s busiest airport said it will also be introducing a new 10-minute limit on the time drivers can get in and out of the drop-off zone next to terminals.
Drivers who go over ten minutes will be hit by an £80 penalty charge, although this is reduced to £40 if paid within a fortnight.
The same penalty applies to drivers who do not pay the £7 drop-off charge online before midnight the next day.
The latest increase in the fee comes a year on from a £1 increase on January 1 this year, meaning it will have risen by 40% in 12 months when the new £7 rate comes into force.
The drop-off charge was first introduced in 2021 at the £5 rate before going up by 17%
