A Design Co., Chennai
Gowri Adappa
Project in focus: A four-bedroom condo in Chennai transformed into a two-bedroom one with an open floor plan that allows for movement and creates several gathering spaces. The mid-century influence is evident in the furnishings and millwork, while the materiality of glass (a glass-brick wall), wood (walnut wood in the foyer and elsewhere) and stainless steel (for the breakfast area) leans towards a more minimalist palette. Subtle shades are combined with rich wooden panelling and underlying Indian touches to create this space.
Collaborations in the past year: A line of fabrics, wallpapers, soft furnishings and products exploring artisanal textiles and pattern-making from South India, with fellow AD100 veteran, Amaresh Anand [of Khosla + Anand].
