A top expert has agreed to oversee a national review into grooming gangs in Scotland amid mounting pressure on the SNP Government. Professor Alexis Jay will play a key role on a probe that could lead to a full inquiry into the scandal .
John Swinney’s Government has so far resisted calls to back an inquiry into grooming gangs along the lines seen south of the border. But at Holyrood, Education Secretary Jenny Gilruth said the care inspectorate and police watchdog would conduct a national review. Jay will have an oversight role on the review and chair a strategic group on child exploitation.
Jay, who authored the report into child sexual exploitation in Rotherham , is considered to be one of the foremost experts on child sexual exploitation in the count
