SARASOTA, Fla. (WWSB) - A Nicaraguan national who injured a federal agent trying to arrest him in Polk County in August has pleaded guilty to charges stemming from the incident.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office said Dec. 3 that Denis Napoleon Corea-Miranda, 22, has pleaded guilty to forcibly resisting, opposing or impeding federal officers.
He faces a possible eight years in federal prison.
According to court records, on Aug. 26, agents with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement and the Department of Homeland Security tried to arrest Corea-Miranda after a deportation order was issued.
