GARLAND, Texas — A Garland man was sentenced to 12 years in federal prison for allegedly planning to distribute 81 pounds of methamphetamine, officials said.
Salud Alejandro Ruiz Mendoza, 28, pleaded guilty to conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine, according to a press release from the Department of Justice. He was sentenced on Dec. 1 to 150 months in federal prison by U.S. District Judge Amos L. Mazzant.
Prosecutors said Mendoza and his codefendants were responsible for distributing and possessing with the intent to distribute 81 pounds of meth in the North Texas area, officials said. As part of the investigation, police also seized several firearms and 91 pounds of marijuana.
Mendoza is a Mexican national living in Garland, the release states.
