Members of the Weyburn Police Service were dispatched to a domestic assault in progress at a local residence last Wednesday.

Deputy Chief Shane St. John explains a man had assaulted a woman and fled the scene when she called the police. Officers began to search for the offender but were unable to locate him. They are now strongly encouraging him to turn himself in.

“It's always better to turn yourself in than to stay on the run. You have to accept and take responsibility for your actions and these charges. They are not going to go away.”

St. John confirms the woman only received minor injuries, adding, “it is a serious incident and she's safe now. But we do need to locate this individual. For her privacy we won't release the name.”
