SPOKANE, Wash. – Ferris High School is introducing an innovative program that takes engineering from the classroom to the skate park.

Gary Gillespie, an engineering and computer science teacher with Spokane Public Schools, explained that his students are embarking on a unique project.

The initiative, called Skate Four Concrete, is a nonprofit organization that aims to connect the skate community with the concrete industry.

Students will engage in building designs, testing materials and understanding how skate park elements are engineered from the ground up.

This project is not only a competition but also a career exploration opportunity for the students.
