ST. JOHNS COUNTY, Fla. — The St. Johns County Sheriff's Office released new details Wednesday in the deadly deputy-involved shooting that occurred on U.S. 1 Tuesday afternoon .
In a press conference, Sheriff Robert Hardwick identified the man who was killed as 43-year-old Kristopher Johnson. He said Johnson, who is from New York, has a violent criminal history in both the state and in St. Johns County.
Hardwick said Johnson was going through a "terrible breakup situation" with his ex-girlfriend during the two weeks leading up to the incident.
On Tuesday morning around 10 a.m., Hardwick said Johnson's ex-girlfriend, whose name he did not release, went to a St. Augustine police station to express concerns she had of Johnson stalking her. Hardwick said police recommended she seek an inju
