BOONE COUNTY, Iowa (KCRG) - Adria Kester, chief judge of Iowa’s Second Judicial District, is avoiding additional prison time after admitting to driving while intoxicated.
She pleaded guilty Tuesday to one count of OWI.
Judge Gregory Brandt gave her a one-year sentence.
She will was given one year of probation and was fined $1,250. She must also complete an OWI program while her license is temporarily suspended.
Kester, 55, of Ogden, was arrested on November 4.
Court documents show a witness found her slumped over the wheel on Highway 30, driving eastbound in the westbound lanes.
Kester was appointed as a judge in 2017 by Gov. Kim Reynolds after serving as a prosecutor and criminal defense lawyer.
