A decomposed body was found in a home in Stamford after an hours-long standoff on Tuesday, according to police.

Officers responded to the home on Oaklawn Avenue around 9:15 a.m. after getting a 911 call from a state marshal who was attempting to serve an eviction notice.

As the officers arrived, they determined they were dealing with a barricaded suspect in the home, Police Chief Tim Shaw said.

Hostage negotiators arrived and did make contact with the person inside, later identified as 63-year-old Jed Parkington.

A Special Response Team was called to the scene and as they arrived, they came under fire from inside the house. The officers returned fire, Shaw said.
