KINGSTON – The Kingston City budget for 2026 is now law as Mayor Steven Noble signed it on Wednesday.

By a 7-2 vote, the common council approved the $63.3 million spending plan on Tuesday evening.

The mayor cited financial stressors and employee benefit increases and flat sales tax as reasons why the tax rate has been increased by just under six percent.

“To continue to invest in our critical infrastructure, maintain city services, support staff contract and benefit increases, accommodate exponential rises in insurance premiums and deductibles, and continue operation of the city’s new ambulance service, there will be a tax increase,” Noble said.
