Police descended on a Greater Manchester supermarket car park earlier today (December 3) following reports of a targeted stabbing.

Greater Manchester Police said they were called at around 12:30pm to reports of a stabbing outside the Tesco Extra store on Victoria Avenue East in Blackley , where they found a man with injuries to his face.

He was taken to hospital for treatment, with injuries which are not understood to be life-threatening. Police say they are making inquiries, with no further danger to the public, as officers believe it was a 'targeted attack'.

Several police vehicles remained at the scene throughout the afternoon. Officers cordoned off the entrance to the supermarket, which was closed for some time as officers and detectives made inquiries. View 2
