MINNEAPOLIS — National experts say homeowner insurance rates rising in Minnesota are being driven less by insurance costs and more by the growing price of severe weather.
A presenter from the Reinsurance Association of America told a state task force Wednesday, Dec. 3, that when it comes to severe storms in Minnesota, two factors are increasing: the frequency and the cost.
Another presenter told the task force that homeowners are often left with large, unexpected bills when their policies don’t cover their massive deductibles after storm damage.
