MOORHEAD — Somalis living in the Fargo-Moorhead area are speaking out after President Donald Trump's recent harsh comments about Minnesota's Somali community.

Trump called Somali immigrants "garbage" who "contribute nothing" and said they should "go back to where they came from" on Tuesday, Dec. 2. Minnesota is home to the largest Somali population in the United States, and many Somalis also live in North Dakota.

Residents say they are watching developments in the Twin Cities closely as tension grows over ICE operations. They want to make it clear that the president's comments do not reflect who they are or the lives they have built in America.
