BUFFALO, N.Y. — A large water main break in South Buffalo led to a road closure and water service being shut down to dozens of nearby homes.

The water main break happened Wednesday night at South Park Avenue and Folger Street in South Buffalo. That's where, according to the Buffalo Water Board , crews isolated the break on a 10-inch main.

Water was shut off while crews worked to make repairs. The work was expected to take approximately six to eight hours, leaving roughly 40 homes in the impacted area without water service during that time.

The break forced the closure of South Park Avenue between Trowbridge Street and Southside Parkway, and it was expected to stay closed going into the Thursday morning drive. Acting Mayor Chris Scanlon urged people to use alternate routes until the
