A monster fish has been spotted lurking just beneath the surface of a canal in Greater Manchester - and is so big it was mistaken by locals for a floating log.
The enormous carp is estimated to be over two feet long and weighing more than 30lb. Dubbed a 'unit', it was seen gliding between moored boats.
The beast dwarfs your average carp, which usually weigh between 10 and 20lb. It was spotted by Sarah Mather, who spoke of the moment she saw the colossal creature drifting past on the Bridgewater Canal near Stretford, in Trafford.
