SC said - No leniency in law for acid attackers.
The Supreme Court has expressed serious displeasure over the delay of trial in the 2009 acid attack case. The case is now 16 years old, meanwhile, the apex court has also sought data on pending acid attack cases from all High Courts and Registrar Generals across the country.
The bench, consisting of CJI Surya Kant and Justice Joymalya Bagchi, said,
The crime is from 2009. The trial has not been completed yet. If even Delhi cannot deal with such challenges, it is shameful for the system.
