NEWARK - A decision on the proposed Phase Two of The Ballantine – a seven-story, 525-unit residential building with a supermarket – has been postponed until the new year.
The site plan for Phase Two of The Ballantine, which would accompany the existing 280-apartment development on the iconic Ballantine Brewery site in Newark’s Ironbound, was scheduled for approval at Monday night’s Newark Central Planning Board meeting.
But Jennifer Porter, the land use counsel representing Ballantine EFG Property Owner LLC, requested that the Central Planning Board adjourn the application to its Feb. 23 meeting. The board approved her request.
Porter did not explain why the applicant wanted to push back the vote.
