A beloved mother-of-three was tragically found dead in her boyfriend's bed after consuming an excessive amount of painkillers to alleviate chronic back pain, an inquest heard. ‌

Amie Barnes, a midwife who was on the waiting list for spinal surgery at Salford Royal Hospital, had spent the evening of Monday, 25 July at her partner Jack's residence in Thornton-Cleveleys, Lancashire. The couple enjoyed a bottle of wine and a takeaway before retiring to bed. ‌

The next morning, Jack left early for work, bidding farewell to Amie, the inquest into her death was informed. ‌

However, upon his return, he discovered her lying face down in bed. Upon checking on her, he realised she had passed away, the coroner was told.

Amie was 37 years old, reports the Manchester Evening News
