The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency said it will no longer lead the probe into a deadly shooting by Birmingham police after the body camera footage was made public by department officials.
Birmingham Police Chief Michael Pickett held a news conference Wednesday to show the footage of the Friday night shooting death of 26-year-old Jamal Williams and chronicle the events leading up to the killing.
In showing the body camera video, as well as Housing Authority Birmingham District surveillance footage, Pickett said it is important to be transparent.
The chief also in October released body camera footage of the shooting of 36-year-old Vanessa Ragland, who also was fatally shot by police.
