DALLAS — Dallas police are touting the work of its Gang Unit and Southeast Division Patrol, both of which played a role in taking down a known violent offender with a lengthy criminal record.

According to a Thursday news release, Luis Antonio Flores was arrested on Nov. 15 after being spotted by Southeast officers who were aware of three warrants tied to Flores, two of which were tied to an aggravated robbery Flores executed early on Nov. 12.

While walking on Norvell Drive, Flores was approached by a marked police car. Upon the officers' approach, Flores got rid of a black backpack he was carrying and attempted to hide behind parked vehicles near the driveway of a nearby home, police said. A short time later, officers took Flores into custody, and they also recovered a handgun and drugs
