Temperatures are dropping and expected to get lower over the coming days, resulting in the local health unit issuing a Cold Notification.
The alert, for Brantford-Brant and Haldimand-Norfolk, began Thursday and will remain in place until further notice.
Grand Erie Public Health says such notifications are issued when parts of all or an area is expected to reach temperatures below -15 degrees Celsius or if the wind chill hits -20 degrees Celsius.
“These conditions can pose serious health risks,” warns the health unit, “especially for individuals who are outdoors for long periods or without appropriate clothing, shelter or heating.”
Extremely cold weather can be dangerous for those with chronic health conditions, those using illicit drugs, those working or exercising outdoors and homes w
