BOISE, Idaho — A Boise inmate accused of killing two men in North Idaho while on the run from prison in 2024 has pleaded guilty by Alford to two counts of first-degree murder to avoid the death penalty.
According to court documents filed Thursday in Nez Perce County, Skylar Meade pleaded guilty to murdering 83-year-old James Mauney and 72-year-old Gerald Henderson in 2024.
By pleading guilty, Meade waives his right to a jury trial. Court documents show that Meade accepted a plea deal to avoid the death penalty and instead be sentenced to two consecutive life sentences in prison.
Meade was indicted by a grand jury in Nez Perce County back in June 2024 for the murder of 83-year-old James Mauney. Idaho State Police said Mauney's remains were found near Leland, Idaho. Police were also inv
