A Desert Sunrise High School teacher was seriously injured in a devastating crash that shut down Maricopa-Casa Grande Highway for hours Tuesday night, according to sources who know her. Heavy rush-hour traffic backed up for miles after at least one vehicle rolled over near Montgomery Road.

Multiple witnesses described seeing a medical helicopter land in the roadway to take at least one patient from the scene. Others reported two vehicles appearing to have rolled. None of those details have been confirmed by law enforcement.
