BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. (WV News) — Thousands of people filled Main Street in downtown Bridgeport Thursday evening for Light Up Night, which has been sponsored by the Associated Businesses of Bridgeport for more than 20 years.

Even with temperatures hovering near freezing, scores of people turned out to support nearly 50 businesses, vendors and nonprofits and enjoy a cup of hot chocolate, fresh fried donuts coated in cinnamon sugar, free merch/swag and plenty of warm apple cider.

Bridgeport schools were very well represented at the celebration, with the high school jazz band, dance line and choir performing in front of the Benedum Civic Center. The middle school dance line and the multi-elementary school choir also entertained the crowd.
