Alabama Crimson Tide quarterback Ty Simpson (15) runs with the ball during the first half against the Auburn Tigers at Jordan-Hare Stadium in Auburn, Alabama.

The No. 3 Georgia Bulldogs (11-1) and No. 10 Alabama Crimson Tide (10-2) meet Saturday in the SEC Championship Game from Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, Georgia. Kickoff is set for 4 p.m. ET (ABC). Let's analyze BetMGM Sportsbook's NCAA football odds around the Georgia vs. Alabama odds and make our expert college football picks and predictions for the best bets.

Georgia beat the No. 23 Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets 16-9 in a rivalry game the day after Thanksgiving, failing to cover as a neutral-field 15.5-point favorite as the Under (59.5) cashed. The Bulldogs' lone blemish on the season is a 24-21 home loss to Alabama Sept. 27. Since then, they have won 8 straight games, going 5-3 against the spread (ATS). UGA is 5-6-1 ATS on the season. QB Gunner Stockton has passed for 2,535 yards and 20 TDs with only 5 INTs.

The Crimson Tide ended the regular season with a 27-20 road win over the Auburn Tigers, pushing as a 7-point favorite as the Under (48) hit. Alabama has been trying to claw back into one of the country's top-ranked programs since its opening-week 31-17 road loss to the Florida State Seminoles. Its other loss was to No. 8 Oklahoma 23-21 in Week 12 action. Alabama does have a slew of impressive wins, including over Georgia, and has gone 7-3-2 ATS on the season. The Crimson Tide have been led by QB Ty Simpson, who has 3,056 yards and 25 touchdowns on the year.

In the latest College Football Playoff rankings, Georgia is No. 3 and Alabama is No. 9. Alabama needs to win to secure a spot in the playoffs; a third loss would leave the Tide's fate to the final committee rankings.

Georgia vs. Alabama picks and predictions

Prediction

Alabama 28, Georgia 24

Moneyline

BET ALABAMA (+115).

While its impact on the College Football Playoff is uncertain, this game should see an Alabama side in desperation mode. The Crimson Tide are 3-1 ATS against top-25 foes. In their september win, they held Stockton and company to just 130 passing yards, ranking 40th throughout the season in opponents' completion percentage. Alabama should be able to get the best of the Georgia passing attack.

Despite being a top-5 team in the country, the Bulldogs haven't covered well as of late, going 2-3 ATS in their last 5 games and having gone 0-2 ATS in neutral-field battles. Georgia is in the playoff regardless, but it has struggled a bit more to slow down elite passing attacks, having given up 41 to the Tennessee Volungteers and 35 to the Ole Miss Rebels.

Expect the Crimson Tide to come out on top and back ALABAMA (+115).

Against the spread

PASS.

Given the predicted outcome, the moneyline odds are the preferred play here. Alabama +2.5 (-105) is worth a look as well if you need a little insurance, but it just isn't the suggested route.

Over/Under

BET OVER 47.5 (-115).

Both offenses are surging and have component QBs at the helm. Simpson has a big arm, and the Crimson Tide have scored at least 27 points in 6 of their last 8 games.

Georgia has an efficient offense that should be ready after having offensive issues with Alabama earlier in the season. It has scored at least 35 points in 3 of its last 4 games, including hanging 35 on an elite No. 14 Texas Longhorns defense.

Expect points in this one and take OVER 47.5 (-115).
