LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) - A Louisville Metro Police cruiser was involved in a crash early Friday morning.

According to LMPD officials, at 3:19am this morning, LMPD’s First Division was dispatched to a call for service on a report of a motor vehicle collision involving an LMPD cruiser and a passenger vehicle at the intersection of 2 nd Street and West Market Street.

Preliminary investigation reveals that an on-duty First Division Officer in a marked cruiser, was backing up an officer on a report of a break-in in progress. The cruiser’s lights and sirens were activated.

As the officer was responding, he entered the intersection at 2 nd and W. Market Street where he collided with a car. Both cars were damaged and a utility pole in the area was also hit.
