The School of Agricultural Sciences and Technology, Stakna, Leh Campus, University of Ladakh, celebrated World Soil Day on 5th December 2025 with great enthusiasm. The event brought together Assistant Professors, project staff, non-teaching staff, and B.Sc. (Hons.) Agriculture students.

The programme was moderated by Dr. Kunzang Lamo, Assistant Professor (Fruit Science). The celebration commenced with an insightful briefing on the history and significance of World Soil Day, delivered by Dr. Padma Angmo, Assistant Professor (Soil Science). She highlighted the contributions of the late King Bhumibol Adulyadej of Thailand, whose advocacy for soil conservation led to the global recognition of this day. Dr. Angmo also explained this year’s theme, “Healthy Soil for Healthy Cities.”
