ROCK ISLAND, Tenn. (WSMV) - The Warren County Sheriff’s Office has reopened the case of a missing man’s death from 2021 after the investigation uncovered new information.

The investigation into the death of Richard McCormick in Rock Island, Tennessee, had been sidelined since his body was pulled from a large pond off Rayburn Walling Road on New Year’s Eve in 2021.

His death was considered a drowning due to where his body was recovered, but text messages from his phone show that he could have been placed in the pond by someone, or multiple people.

McCormick was last seen alive on security footage from a residence on Jaco Street on November 21, 2021, just under 2 miles from where his body would be found in the pond.
