The long search for Penn State’s next head coach could nearly be over.
Penn State is in the final stages of making a deal to hire Iowa State’s Matt Campbell its next head coach, according to multiple reports. Yahoo Sports’ Ross Dellenger and On3’s Pete Nakos were among those with the news.
ESPN’s Pete Thamel also noted that terms of the deal and approval of compensation are yet to come.
Reports of Penn State’s interest in Campbell began Wednesday night, and a PennLive source also mentioned his name as a priority .
Penn State’s board of trustees on Friday temporarily scheduled a set of meetings from Monday through Thursday of next week. Though no details are available for those meetings just yet, they are for the committee tasked with approving contracts of this nature.
