ASHEVILLE - Asheville Academy for Girls has reached a settlement agreement in one of several lawsuits filed in recent months against the now-shuttered facility that was found to have violated state law in Buncombe County, records show.
The lawsuit alleged program staff failed to adequately supervise a child under the age of 13 who attended Asheville Academy for Girls for three months in 2024. Their lack of supervision and neglect allowed the child to repeatedly leave the campus alone and self-harm, the lawsuit claimed. The child’s parent filed the suit July 9 in Buncombe County Superior Court against the facility and its corporate owners, Orgon-based Family Help & Wellness.
