Marcello Vitti is still not done reaping the rewards of his final high school football season.

After helping lead Dearborn Divine Child’s program to its first state title in 40-years and being named MLive’s Catholic High School League Player of the Year for defense , Vitti adds yet another honor to his resume by being named the 2025-26 Gatorade Michigan Football Player of the Year.

Vitti is a senior defensive back, running back and return specialist for the Falcons, and is the first player from Divine Child to win the award since it began in the 1985 season.

Committed to Iowa, Vitti was a standout while playing safety on defense with 106 tackles, five of which were for loss, two forced fumbles and fumble recovery and an interception return for a touchdown.
