A former senior fire official in Toms River already facing a civil lawsuit for allegedly sexually abusing subordinates has been charged criminally, according to court records.

Robert Sinnott Jr., a former police officer, was charged Wednesday in Ocean County with four counts of criminal sexual contact and one count of official misconduct, according to court records.

Sinnott, 52, was arrested Thursday in Cape Coral, Florida, where he now lives, according to Lee County jail records.

He remained in custody late Friday morning on a fugitive from justice charge.
