CHICAGO (WLS) -- A fire broke out Friday afternoon near O'Hare Airport, sending a large amount of smoke into the air.

The flames were put out out after about 100 Chicago firefighters were called in to tackle the fire.

Chicago fire crews responded to a fire around 2:15 p.m. in a set of townhomes in the 8600 block of West Foster Avenue near Delphia Avenue, officials said, not far from Dirksen Elementary School.

The fire started in the corner unit of this complex near a wall before quickly spreading to the ceiling, and then the roof before it collapsed, CFD officials said.

Firefighters could be seen battling the flames. The fire was through the roof of a residential building.
