IndiGo, considered India’s largest airline, is grappling with one of its most severe operational meltdowns in recent years. The chaos left thousands of passengers stranded across the country. From mass cancellations to hours-long delays, the disruption spiralled across major airports. Amid it all, the airline, owned by InterGlobe Aviation Ltd, faced another wave of criticism.

Many passengers who cancelled their tickets took to social media to say the airline promised a full refund, but still deducted money from the amount they were returned. They posted screenshots of a refund receipt as a reply to IndiGo’s apology letter, in which the airline mentioned it would offer a “full waiver" for cancellation or rescheduling of flights between December 5 and 15, 2025.
