CENTRALIA, Wash. — Centralia police are seeking the public's help in identifying vandals who caused an estimated $30,000 in damage to the city's Borst Lights holiday display last week.
The vandals cut wires on multiple light displays along the three-quarters-of-a-mile driving route sometime before the damage was discovered. City Parks Director Amy Buckler said the destruction initially appeared devastating.
"It's so demoralizing because it's so much work for the staff to put together," Buckler said.
Despite the extensive damage, city parks crews worked through the Thanksgiving weekend making emergency repairs to ensure the show could open as scheduled.
