GRANITE CITY, Ill. (First Alert 4) - A police officer shot on Friday afternoon in Granite City prompted a massive manhunt that disrupted daily life across the community as multiple law enforcement agencies searched for an armed and dangerous suspect.

Friday night, Illinois State Police identified the suspect as 26-year-old DJ Marshall of Granite City, believed to be the person who shot the officer.

Police and multiple law enforcement agencies have amassed in Granite City searching for the suspect, and part of the focus of the search was on a house on Madison Avenue near 28th Street Friday evening, with officers crowding the street before clearing out and continuing the search elsewhere.

The incident took many residents by surprise in what they described as a typically quiet community.
