ELLETTSVILLE — After a couple of false starts, Edgewood's Caden Jones came flying out of the blocks.
The 6-foot-7 junior is the most experienced varsity player on this year's Mustang boys basketball roster and played like it in Friday's long-awaited season opener against Cloverdale with 22 points, eight rebounds and a couple of blocks in a 62-46 Western Indiana Conference victory at the Mustang Corral.
He hit three of his first four 3-point attempts in the opening period and had 16 points by halftime as Edgewood bolted out to a 36-13 halftime lead.
"That's the type of player he wants to be and that's the type of player we need him to be," Edgewood coach Matt Wadsworth said. "It's a reflection of the work that he's put in the offseason.
