President Droupadi Murmu hosted a grand state banquet for Russian President Vladimir Putin at Rashtrapati Bhawan, showcasing India's rich vegetarian culinary heritage. The dinner, held on the second day of Putin's visit, featured a traditional thali that highlighted regional diversity and fresh ingredients.

The meal commenced with Murungai Chaaru, a light South Indian rasam, followed by a selection of appetizers including Gucchi Doon Chetin (stuffed morels with walnut chutney), Kaale Chane Ke Shikampuri (black gram kebabs), and Vegetable Jhol Momo served with spicy chutney. These dishes offered a delightful mix of textures and flavours.

For the main course, guests enjoyed Zafrani Paneer Roll, Paalak Methi Mattar Ka Saag, Tandoori Bharwan Aloo, Achaari Baingan, and Yellow Dal Tadka. This was accompanied by Dry Fruit and Saffron Pulao and a variety of Indian breads such as Laccha Parantha, Magaz Naan, Satanaj Roti, Missi Roti, and Biscuity Roti.

Desserts included Badam Halwa, Kesar-Pista Kulfi, and fresh fruits, providing a sweet conclusion to the meal. A range of refreshing beverages, including pomegranate, orange, carrot, and ginger juices, complemented the feast.

The evening was enriched by a musical performance featuring Indian classical ragas and Russian melodies. The ensemble played pieces like Amritavarshini, Yaman, and Kalinka, creating a cultural exchange that enhanced the dining experience.

During the banquet, President Putin praised the deepening ties between India and Russia, highlighting a joint declaration with Prime Minister Modi that covers various areas of cooperation, including politics, security, and trade. He emphasized the goal of building a "fairer and just world order" and framed the relationship as one of "go together, grow together."

President Murmu noted the 25th anniversary of the India-Russia Strategic Partnership and expressed optimism for future cooperation. After the dinner, Putin departed Delhi, with External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar seeing him off at the airport. This visit underscored the commitment of both nations to strengthen their partnership across multiple sectors.
