M&S could make a comeback to Nuneaton as 500 locations for new food stores have been revealed. The town lost its prominent Marks and Spencer store in Market Place more than a decade ago.

After 78 years in the town, the store closed in January 2011. There were attempts to lure the big name back to the town, including a petition, but it fell on deaf ears.

The building is now occupied by Poundland. But M&S bosses unveiled a list of 500 potential locations for new and revamped Food stores. Nuneaton is on the list.

It features as Nuneaton'Hinckley. Other local locations include Coventry as well as well as Kenilworth and Leicester. As part of its expansion strategy, the major retailer aims to open stores in areas where demand for its food range is growing.
