A man was assaulted on Queens Road in Nuneaton in the early hours of this morning, police have confirmed.

CoventryLive reported earlier today that a police guard and police cordon were spotted at the old Woolworths store in the town centre.

Now, police have confirmed that a man has been taken to hospital after the assault at around 4.15am this morning (Saturday, December 6).

Another man, aged 38, and of no fixed abode, has been arrested. Police are now appealing for witnesses and are keen to speak to a cyclist who may have been in the area at the time.
